Reflections on the Trip to Pulau Ubin

This trip to Pulau Ubin made me
realise how, maybe, fortunate I am
to have the daily appliances that the
people in Pulau Ubin do not have like
the stoves, which we use to cook our food.
Also, how simple happiness is to them, without
PSPs and iPods, they know how to fill their days
with catapults made from natural wood and
stones, sacks and even coconut shells. On the
educational trip to Chek Jawa, I realise that
many, if not most, dont appreciate the nature
that is showcased on this planet we live in. How
the bottles and plastic bags washed ashore or
freshly thrown are not given a second thought
on the proper bin they are supposed to be thrown
in. How beautiful this world truly is, but most
dont realise that as time goes by, this world may
be subdued in their hands. How they dont under-
stand that if the world dies, so would we. But if we
die, the world survives due to the painful fact that
we are the ones who are killing this planet.

So, on that note, I hope people will start to feel
remorseful towards the thoughtless deeds they
have commited so far.
